Dear Quentin, I know you won't believe me, but I can do little else but explain that I did go back and look for anyone who might have still been on or near the ferry in need of rescue multiple times.
As I had been the one to go down into the holding to speak to newcomers, I am certain we had everyone there accounted for, and having made rounds since, am confident none of the older arrivals are missing.
It was always part of the plan to return, once we had free rein of the waters that only the ferry seems able to traverse, in order to retrieve everyone and return them home.
I know that I should have made the plan more transparent, and that more careful planning should have been made, but we found the timing to be quite urgent and hadn't wanted to cause strife in the town among those who would not wish to return home. Sincerely, Aziraphale.
Dearest Quentin, If you must know, I might have exerted some magic to ensure that no one would die in the ensuing crash. It was too abrupt to save the actual impact.
I don't know what I would have done had anyone died, either. Sincerely, Aziraphale.
I do. I know what I would have done to you, and I really don't care if you have enough magic to keep a whole boat full of people safe AFTER you crashed it.
[Damn you, Aziraphale for being such an angel about all of this. Quentin will find the books, the ointment which goes to Eliot along with the tea. It smells great, but it never tastes as good as it smells. So, most of it goes to Eliot but he will read the books, even when there's nothing helpful in them.
And he will also return them to the library so Aziraphale doesn't get in to trouble with the Librarian.]

Instead, he'll just. Leave a pile of books he thinks Quentin might like on his porch, along with topical ointments and a few satchets of tea. ]
